We are travelling down through France Northern Spain to Porto at the beginning of July.

We plan on driving down through France (Ferry to Caen) in a couple of days then explore the Northern Coast of Spain , dropping down towards Porto.

However we are struggling to find small basic campsites for stop overs we don't need a swimming pool and they need to dog friendly . We have tried ACSI guide, Camping and Caravan Club, and the UK Campsite but can only find larger campsites. We plan on stopping near Poitiers, Bayonne, then Torrelavega in Spain and onwards.

Can anyone recommend any campsites or guides/websites we could use.

I can't help you with Spain! As far as I know, all municipal campsites here accept dogs.
Most campsites will have swimming pools cause it's darned hot!

These are perfect many thanks, we plan to spend a bit more time on the way back in the Lot and Dordogne regions so we will try municpal sites there as well.

Many thanks, the Blog is very interesting too , we are meeting up with two of our sons in Braga and are sharing a Villa for a couple of weeks until we wend our way back. We have 10 days to get back to Caen so we are planning to spend a bit of time in the Lot and Dordogne regions.
