Just for interests sake and not being in a position to eavesdrop on any of the conversations taking place at any of the meets, might I enquire as to whether this policy of not mentioning political or religious matters extends when everyone is gathered around the camp fire participating in their glass of Vino and packet of Salt & Vinegar crisps?

I am finding difficulty in believing that at any upcoming meet someone will have their throat jumped down should they dare make mention of any current development taking place in the political world e.g. result of the election and Brexit etc.

Surely the expression of speech should be respected with of course a line being drawn upon any comments that tend to start drifting in the direction of being personal where, with the number of admins and mods we have on the forum, these could be quickly removed. Just a thought.

It is well known that two things that people argue about most are politics and religion and that arguments can flare up quickly for that reason they are not only frowned upon on this forum but many others as well.
The Eribafolk forum was originally set up for like-minded members of the caravanning community to exchange ideas about Eriba caravans and as a place to have a laugh and a joke (not always allowed elsewhere) hence the "friendly forum" part of the name.

Originally set up by dare I say it four people who at the time had no idea how to run a large forum and never really expected Eribafolk to grow into the large database for Eriba caravans with a membership of close to 650 that it is today.

I joined as an ordinary member a couple of weeks after the forum started and having limited admin experience as a junior admin elsewhere and 15 years forum experience as a member of several diverse forums from cancer research to steam engine rallies probably had more forum experience than the admin team put together.

At the time and on other odd occasions via the pm system I suggested some rules be introduced, but the admin team were convinced that the forum should be as open a it could be, a laudable intention which I went along with at the time.

Time passed things got bigger and bigger .............. and by the nature of things admin and moderators have a habit of stuffing their vans and disappearing
sometimes for months........... this leaving admin and moderators at times thin on the ground .............. with that in mind and my background in forums I was asked to join the team as a moderator (something I pondered for a while) it can be a thankless task at times ............ when you delete a post ........ a topic ....or even a member

Anyway to cut a long story short you can all blame me for the no politics and religion "rule" as it was me who suggested and first implemented it.

Having said that if you can find a "forum rules" section on this forum I will be greatly surprised (if only because I have read everything on here) by the philosophy of the original four we try where we can to stick to the no rules policy and where we can without discrimination allow anything not illegal or offensive to be posted (this is not an invitation to try to find something we don't allow)
