Be aware that a 2007 Eriba Troll 540 has been advertised as a private sale on Gumtree (Norfolk) with a bargain price of £4100. This is highly likely to be a scam! The vendors are Tracey or Liam in Northern Ireland and they listed a mobile phone number which always goes to voicemail but they do respond to text messages via email to draw you in. The ad has suddenly disappeared which raised my suspicions and the asking price is well below market value. Here's our email thread:

Re: Eriba 540

Sounds too good to be true Tracey . You’re wanting money up front for a caravan I haven’t even seen, delivery at your expense and promising Paypal will be refund me if I’m not happy after 7 days and you’d have to pay for the caravan’s return?! All this for a caravan,if it is as you describe and your pictures are genuine and you’re listing it at a third of its real market value. And you’re a long way from me in Northern Ireland?

And for some reason, you ad has suddenly disappeared from Gumtree. I suspect because you’ve been reported and maybe wiser people have read this link:

Scam Number 6 to you and me but sadly, not to those born yesterday.

I will agree for a 7 days of full inspection period ( after the date you receive the caravan ). This means that you have 7 days to inspect the caravan for any damages and decide if you want to keep it or not!
Because I will sign eBay's return policy, your money will be insured by them and you will have the option to reject the deal, only if we go through PayPal as well. If this is the case, you will receive a full refund (money back) from PayPal and I will have to take the caravan back on my cost!
You can read more about it following the link below:

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/context...urn-policy.html

Let me know if the above return policy is acceptable and if you want to purchase the caravan please confirm your PayPal email for further instructions.

Hi Tracey,
Thanks for getting back to me. Great, let's proceed, if you tell us as soon as it goes on eBay we can hit the buy it now button and then will arrange payment via PayPal. No need to reply to Amanda who has also emailed you.
We definitely want it - where would delivery be to? Is it in Norwich,
Kind regards
Stephen

Hello,
I still have the Eriba for sale and its condition is excellent. soplair full awning. All necessary documents available. It just has to go due to lack of use. My current location is N.Ireland due to my work If this is going to be a quick sale, I will let it go for £4100 delivered at my costs.
The deal will go through eBay and PayPal.

It is an unwritten rule that if a seller is asking for money upfront and the price is a long way too cheap it is almost certain to be a scam I personally would never buy a van without seeing it before any money changes hands in any form either cash credit card or paypal.
