Our house is sold so van may have to live outside at our new undecided abode, hopefully under a carport, so I may need a cover. Options:-
AL - £209 - green only, will not fit due to rear carrier - is it worth looking for a 2nd hand Troll cover?
Specialised - £299 - 10%, made to measure to accomadate carrier in grey, green or blue.
Protec - £355 - 10%, made to measure to accommodate carrier in green.
What about a small generic?

Helpful and constructive comments much appreciated.

Colin

I'm planning for an easy life in my future years, so now it's on it is not coming off. It is the most secure fitting I have managed on my 4 vans. The top does hook onto a pair of mounts, whilst the bottom has friction pins that slide into the ends of a mounting rail and are then capped off. You might get an idea from the attached.

I sold my AL cover and got a Protec. I found the AL one really difficult to get on the van especially in the storage compound where the use of ladders is forbidden. The Protec cover is made with far superiour materials. They don't like to do the easy fit system for Eribas, but if you ask they will. The whole back section unzips and allows the cover to be slid over from the front. If you had this along with the extra space for your bike carrier it would be a real easy job to cover your van. Drag it over with the poles and zip down at the back.

Hi Colin,

I'll watch this topic with interest, I need to get a cover for my Triton, which has a rear bike carrier, which I suppose I can take off, and an Omnistore awning which I can't.

Does anyone have any experience of covers and a retractable awning?

Yes I had a Protec cover on a 540 specifically tailored for an Omnistore and it was fine, have always had Protecs and would recommend them

Both Specialised and Protec will accommodate non standard external fixtures , if your in the caravan club you can also get an extra discount.

When I ordered my specialised cover 5 years ago I was asked if any external fixtures needed accounting for, it is still going strong ready for next winter..

If you don't use the Omnistore it can be removed and just leave the fixing brackets, it saves about 25 k in weight.
