Do damp problems affect Eribas as much as other caravans?

I bought a caravan recently, a 1995 Familia 320 but, having made this not inconsiderable purchase, I realised that the one thing that I did not research or ask anyone about (we're total caravan newbies and I bought one on layout and practicality) is damp problems. I've read on many sites horror stories of people who have bought standard fibreglass caravans and had 80% damp and they have been totally unusable. Your comments will be appreciated

ohh no, didn't you use a damp meter !!!

Just kidding, Eribas do not suffer like the ones you have experienced, which is why you can see 40 year old Eribas still touring happily and prices stay reasonably high. Mine was serviced this last week and the engineer was singing their praises telling his apprentice that the insulation and body in the Eribas don't usually have any damp issues. So enjoy and ask away on here as many are very experience Eribaists with a wealth of knowledge.

Damp is not as common in an Eriba due to the rigid internal steel cage construction, this makes them less susceptible to damp like the normal caravan , basically they don't flex the same .
However it doesn't mean that they do not suffer from damp, as they get older the window seals fail and the mastic around the belly band and awning rail becomes hard, any external fixings can be also be source of ingress. Water stains on the wall boards and a damp musty smell is usually a give away if you dont have a damp meter

That's brilliant, thank you all so much for your replies, it certainly puts my mind at rest. Ours has a back box attached to it, so I will definitely watch out for any ingress, all though, I think it was installed very securely and silicon was involved to protect from water!!
