A little assistance please

Hi all,

As you may know I recently bought my new to me 2015 Eriba Troll 530GT from Barny. Reading through all the instruction manuals seemed to leave me more confused than I was before and I have a couple of questions with regard to the water/electrics in the van. I'm not sure if Barny is still online/following but any advice from you 'seasoned' professionals would be greatly accepted.

1. If the 30 Litre Water tank is empty and I have used all the hot water in the boiler, will boiler switch off automatically so it doesn't burn out? I believe not?
2. Draindown: I have found x3 sets of double (x2) taps under both rear and end benches plus 1 tap by the 30L water tank? To drain down, must I turn all 7 taps anticlockwise? .....plus pull the plug in the 30Litre tank whilst ensuring the Kitchen/Bathroom sink taps are in the open middle position?
3. Am I correct in thinking that the Grey Waste exits from only one point on the underside of the van. So just need to situate/aim the grey waste container underneath the van/vertical exit pipe with no need to connect a grey waste pipe?
4. Electrics: There is a 12v switch behind the TV. If this is selected, then all 12v appliances will be fed from the leisure battery? Obvously i'm sure.
5. If I then plugged in my 230v electric cable, does it automatically overide the 12v or is there a specific 230v switch to find/switch on?
6. I have noticed a black switch (with contains a small blue square) situated at floor level next to Motor Mover connection (red key) on rear sofa foot board? Any idea what this switch is? Anything to do with the 230v perhaps?
7. What PIR/Tilt sensor alarm would be fitted if was a customer selected option? Currently none fitted and needs to be manufacturer approved to receive an insurance discount?

I'm sure this is all obvious stuff and practice will be put me on the right track. But really grateful for any assistance as I don't want to find out the hard way with a burnt our Truma etc.

Thanks again.
Tonks

Tonks,
I can answer a few points for you:-
1. If the 30 Litre Water tank is empty and I have used all the hot water in the boiler, will boiler switch off automatically so it doesn't burn out? I believe not?
- It should have a thermal cut out, but I would avoid running the 30L tank empty.
- Turn the water heater off, turn the 12v off, pull the bung out of the bottom of the tank, open taps in kitchen and toilet, open all drain valves, when empty turn the sink taps taps off and turn 12v back on
3. Am I correct in thinking that the Grey Waste exits from only one point on the underside of the van. So just need to situate/aim the grey waste container underneath the van/vertical exit pipe with no need to connect a grey waste pipe?
- I use a bucket, when it's full I put a watering can of water into the 30L onboard tank
4. Electrics: There is a 12v switch behind the TV. If this is selected, then all 12v appliances will be fed from the leisure battery? Obvously i'm sure.
- ??
5. If I then plugged in my 230v electric cable, does it automatically overide the 12v or is there a specific 230v switch to find/switch on?
- with 230v hooked up you will still get the 12v as the charger is running through the battery ito your 12v circuit, topping the battery up along the way.
6. I have noticed a black switch (with contains a small blue square) situated at floor level next to Motor Mover connection (red key) on rear sofa foot board? Any idea what this switch is? Anything to do with the 230v perhaps?
- this is the water heater switch - do not turn it on until the water heater is primed/full
7. What PIR/Tilt sensor alarm would be fitted if was a customer selected option? Currently none fitted and needs to be manufacturer approved to receive an insurance discount?
- contact your insurance company for advice - it nay not be worth fitting as you will not recoup the cost - I'm currently paying £256 for £25,500 of insurance on a 2017 Triton, with wheel lock and hitch lock as security.

Many thanks Colin..That was very useful.

I have been looking for a 230v switch (similar to how there is a 12v switch) so looks as if there isn't a specific 230v one.
Good to know that all 7 valves/taps are in fact all drain valves and all doing the same job (there was just one single flip switch on my old van).
And now I know where the water heater switch is....excellent. I guess the little blue square should have given it away!

Thanks
Tony

Your mains unit (probably under a seat near where the external plug from the site plugs in) should have a 230v trip switch that turns the mains on and off.
