Eriba awning

Hi,
My name is Kevin.
I have an Eriba awning which came with the Eriba Puck I bought privately.
The problem is I have no idea how it goes together.
There are no instructions and I don't even know if all the poles are there.
The awning has Automotive Leisure on it,so I presume it came with the Eriba when it was new in 2004.
I contacted them and I am no further forward with how to erect it.
Is there anyone out there that can help me put it together.?
I live in the Bristol area.
Many thanks
Kev

Hello Trevor,

This is how Soplair awnings are attached and a lot of AL's awnings mimic this layout.
Check out awnings in the search facility of this website and study some of the included erection / drawings and manuals supplied by members of the site.

Most awnings have a piped edge which fits into the silver slotted trim that goes around the roof. This supports/attaches the awning to the caravan. Where there is a definite bend with usually a hole drilled in the silver trim (at each end of the door side of your van) is where you feed the piped edge into. This piped edge will probably be as long as the distance between the bends/ drilled holes. You ideally need one person to feed it in and one to pull it along. At approximately the same distance there may be some brackets screwed into this same silver trim , these have a vertical hole which support the two horizontal poles that support the side walls. I suggest you study the poles, if the previous owner was canny he will have colour coded which poles attach to which. You need to build a semi cube which has two vertical poles at the front, a cross piece adjoining the tops of these poles along the front, and two side supports which at the caravan end slot into the vertical holes in the brackets previousy mentioned. There are no vertical poles at the caravan/back of the awning, the slotted webbing supports this end. Depending on the age of your Puck , there will be different ways to support the awning roof, some have a triangular framework, between the previously mentioned brackets, so that the awning roof is lifted higher than the roof of the caravan to give you headroom.
If you are having difficulty identifying the poles , the two front poles are usually a fixed height, the two side horizontal poles and sometimes the front horizontal
pole has a butterfly screw adjuster to make the awning taut when erected. So the three poles with adjusters are 2 sides and one front, or sometimes just the two sides.
So attach the awning first, then with the front legs at half height offer the semi erected cube to the caravan side whilst under the awning and attach the side poles, at the same time attaching the triangle of poles that lift the roof. Then lift the legs at the front left and right and adjust the side horiz poles until you have a reasonably taut roof.
Then peg out the corners and work along the sides.
It's a nightmare when you first try it,it took me an hour and a half the first time and provided all the other site occupants with a cabaret to watch, but it helps if you have a stool or two to stand on when you feeding in the piped edge.
Nobody ever gets it quite right first time, keep studying how others have theirs pegged out.
Your awning may be just a small porch awning or a full length one, try it out on the drive without using any pegs to get an idea.
When you have it properly erected, colour code the pole joints.

Good luck,

Having posted yesterday my reply I then had a look at the awning pics on here, there's a pic of an AL / NR awning on a Puck, and it contradicts a lot of what I said.
Looks like there are four vertical poles and four poles for the roof which rise to a point, in the centre, like a gazebo.
Have a look , I am sure it will give you some idea on how it works and sorry for misleading you.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
You wouldn't have some pictures of how the pole section goes together?.
I have a full length Familia awning.
Many thanks.
Kevin
