La Rochelle

We are off back to France on 15th September to 1st October and looking to stop somewhere in the region of La Rochelle. We tend to stay in one place and use it as a base to explore and will be taking bikes with us.
Any recommendations ??

You could go a little further south to St Palais sur Mer where there is a lovely ACSI site right opposite the sea with spectacular views from the coastal footpath that leads into town, lovely coastal cycle tracks from outside the site, splendid beaches, a lovely zoo (more a wildlife sanctuary) and the Ile d'Oléron a simple car journey away.

Fabulous place! We used ACSI 1682 Les Puits de l'Auture (twice) as did the Frantones and the Randas.
