Well as avid campers for years, we've just 'inherited' the family Triton! The other half's parents have owned it since new (1994) and we were looking to help them sell it. After much deliberation, thought we'd give it a go ourselves. Bit unsure how I'll get on with towing, though!

Hi Seachops and welcome to Eribafolk. Yes, you really must give it a go. You'll love it. Most of us came from camping so we don't look on Eribas as "caravans".
You'll get many admiring looks and lots of interest when you pitch up with your new Triton.
An absolute dream to tow. What are you going to tow her with?

Ha ha, learning already, I'll limit my use of the term 'caravan' in future!
It's a 1.8 petrol Avensis estate, so I'm not sure there will be enough grunt. I'll stay down south away from hills for the trial holiday!

Welcome Seachops and good luck towing. It seems that quite a few new Eriba owners get their first towing experience when they collect their 'van.
This experience is usually followed by the slight shock of seeing something white and silver following them closely ('cos they've forgotten it's there!).

Haven't collected mine yet but the weight on eribas is very light and as it's low very little wind resistance I have been told. So you shouldn't have any worries on pulling it.

- towing with a 1.8 Avensis should no problem :) - reversing, with no experience, could be a little bit more difficult Enjoy your Eriba :)

I towed our Triton to the South of France three times with a 1.8 Astra Convertible so you should be fine.

I found an excellent instruction on YouTube for reversing. Straighten up and Hold steering wheel with one hand only at 12 o'clock do not move your hand from that position then use the mirrors and if you see the tail of caravan coming into view turn the wheel gently to the mirror in view then I check the other mirror to see you haven't over steered. Sounds excellent way to recall it but not yet been able to check it in practice. Happy Eriba'n

Thanks - I think I'll give that a go. I'm going to have a really good practice session in the local farmer's yard or Tesco car park (when it's not busy!)
