Flush Fitting Mains Inlet.

I had forgotten until this morning that during last year we lost part of the blue release lever on the inlet leaving us with just a skeleton lever. It obviously comes in two pieces, the blue skeleton lever covered with a blue outer solid lever.

Don't know if it was because of the cold weather but I had a devil of a job releasing the mains plug (not helped because we still have the Protec Cover over the van) but eventually got the skeleton lever to work.

Does anyone know how the lever works and what part of the socket does it clip to? It's a push down to release.

I think it clips up into the small lip on the blue hinged cap. The light blue lever simply flips up the cap on the plug.

That's as I understand it too.

Our current van has the connector inside the battery box and the male socket is almost vertical, so all you have to do is flip the blue cap up with a finger to release it. On horizontal connectors the cap is inaccessible to a finger, hence the rather ineffective little lever which has always been a problem whenever I've encountered them.

So, it's either replacing the box or perhaps filing the pip of the hinged cap of the plug? Perhaps remove the cap altogether?

You could save having to replace it and simply reach your hand in and lifting the dark blue flap slightly before pulling out the plug?

If the lead is a good fit and is prepared to stay put do you need the lever to grip the edge?
