..... I came across this link on the French Forum which shows overnight parking for Campervans/Caravans etc.
Having looked at some of the recommendations for our part of the country, the parking spots are there but I'm not sure they should be used overnight ?

Our area is almost a wasteland on that map.

Not much near us but within a few miles there is one. It's the Common! Only ever used by travellers and a group of French caravanners one year. The local police came and chased them off quickly. Not sure that any of these spots in the UK are legal. Another one I know (which is on this site) is a car park near the river in Newark. The advice is one night only and leave early, to me that indicates that you shouldn't be there.

Reading more of these parking places in Lincolnshire, the posters admit that signs say no overnight parking but they have stayed there with no problems. Some of them are just lay byes, these aren't for overnight parking.
This is what gets motorhomers a bad name.
I now understand how that group of French caravanners I mentioned in my previous post ended up on the Common, they must have used this site without knowing that this is not allowed in the UK.
Why are motorhomers so determined not to pay site fees like the rest of us?

I suppose the French don't understand the British way of doing things.... every town here provides those wretched campervan owners with free facilities and parks where they can park up...... we're paying for them all grrrrrrr. Free water, free sewage emptying......

We are completely inexperienced and was going to say the website looks fabulous with hundreds of parking spots.... but the comments on here seem to say otherwise. We have only managed find find overnight parking for motor homes anywhere we have looked. We think it might be a problem when we eventually take our eriba abroad as we will want to stay overnight whilst making our way to the final destination.......
