2006 Troll 540

Hi

I’ve just bought a 2006 Troll 540.

I’ve wanted one for ages so am really chuffed that I’ve finally taken the plunge. I live in London and have nowhere to store the Eriba so it will be stored near my work. This complicates matters a bit, but with some forward planning I’m hoping it won’t be too much of a faff getting away at short notice.

I intend to primarily use the Troll for weekends away with my wife - cycling and walking - and I’m hoping to find campsites that aren’t too regimented or large. Possibly certified locations but I think I’ll need a few more facilities until I get used to the whole malarkey as I’m totally new to caravans. I’ve taken a camper van around American and used to drive large vehicles for a living so I’m hoping I’ll be OK. My tow car will be a Volvo XC60 which should easily be up to the job.

If anyone knows any good campsites within 2 hours drive of London I’d love to hear about them. The Eriba community seems really friendly and I’m hoping to pick up lots of tips here.

Kam

Hi Kam
From one 540 owner to another I'm certain you will have a brilliant time.

Bit of a daft suggestion but Caravan & Motorhome Club have a much-loved site at Crystal Palace (not far from the radio mast) that after years under threat is finally closing on December 16th to make way for development. We stayed last June and a girl was in the pitch next to us from just round the corner. She rented her house out on AirBnB and stayed in her campervan on the site often during the week. We loved going into Crystal Palace village to eat and drink.

If you could get on for a night or two it would give you chance to try everything out without being too far from home. It is a real shame it is shutting as it is an oasis of calm within London and leads right onto the park itself. Just a thought MikeT

Thank you all for your welcomes.

I collect the Troll in a couple of weeks. I’ve started buying bits and bobs for it. Isabella shadow sun canopy and plates and cups so far.

The hot weather in London is making me constantly wish I was away in it - I can’t wait!
