A Cuckoo and a Red Kite

I heard my first Cuckoo this week around 6:45am
Yesterday I saw the first Red Kite over Keynsham
The local Sparrow Hawk is doing runs over the
back gardens here.
No Bats around locally yet unless they are all waiting
until I go to bed!
I think the Jackdaws may have chicks, but no sightings yet,
just a lot of noise. The female usually makes a soft churring noise
if she is sitting on eggs or chicks.

The kites are spreading rapidly, saw one over the A1 near Huntingdon on Thursday and then later outside Royston.
They're great to see but I wonder if there will be an impact on the Buzzard population.
No cuckoo sounds round here but they are in the Lea Valley down the road.
I once saw a group of 5 male cuckoos together around a tree involved in some sort of territorial or pairing dispute.we were on a boat up the River Lark.It was a real red letter day because we also saw a pair of Marsh Harriers and a Snipe drumming.

Bats out again last night swooping across my back garden munching on the midges, I hope.
