Apologies in advance if I’m passing on old information. I’m heading off to Spain next week so I was doing some routine maintenance today. The van is 2 years old and I’ve never had the wheels off before. Whilst doing this I discovered that the wheel bolts supplied with the spare (steel) wheel have different sized heads to those securing the alloy wheels on the caravan. The bolts for the alloys are the same as those on the car so I can use the car’s wheelbrace to slacken them. However the only tool that came with the caravan that fits the spare is the brace for the corner steadies which isn’t really up to the job of tightening wheel nuts. I’m going to find a better tool for the job.
Our caravan was new in 2016. If you have a caravan of a similar age it might be worth doing some checks.
