Inflatable Awnings
Just returned from a lovely weekend in Norfolk at "The Walled Garden" near Docking. Lots of BWWB's with inflatable awnings, which has prompted me to consider purchasing an inflatable awning, prior to the French Eribafest trip next month.
I have read through the many posts on here concerning inflatable awnings and come to the following conclusions. A Kampa Pop Air 365 will fit my
2001 Eriba Troll, but will I have to cut some of the beading away as suggested, will the door open and click back onto its stay, and will I be able to open the window at the side/ back that illuminates the rear dinnette/ bed area?
Also looked at the AL version of the Twin Air Clairval, same questions apply.
Has anyone with a a pre 2010 Troll got either of these awnings and if so can they post a review please that answers these questions?
Thanks,

We don't have a troll, but we bought a vango kela 3 low air beam awning for our Puck L and it had its biggest test at the weekend in a thunder/lightning and heavy rai and wind storm Saturday night, it stood up without any problems and was dry as bone. Because it's supposed to be for a driveaway camper van we have a sorta 3 foot wide corridor between the van and the awning area which serves great to take your shoes off, hang up coats, the door opens fine and goes back against the van. We would recommend the awning to anyone!

The mod is only advised for post 2010 high rail vans. You should be fine on your 2001 van and at about £850 it is a good awning for the price.
The Twin Air Clairval from AL is I believe to order and I seem to recall they take a while. If you can live with something that takes a bit longer to put up and a bit longer still to put away then you will not find a better awning than the Fortex. It is worth it if on one site for a week or longer. This one is a good price. http://www.eriba-shop.co.uk/accessories-...multi-function/ New you would be looking at around £2000.

Hi Colin,
I have an old but very serviceable Soplair Ardeche that came with the van for free when I purchased. It has a good large footprint, is pretty watertight except in extreme downpours where water gets in that gets caught between the rail and the roof . I just fancy the ease of putting up an inflatable but have yet to see one up against a troll, hence my question re door opening and window opening. The Fortex looks very sturdy and a good size but as you say may take a similar time to put up as my Soplair. Thanks for your comments.

Hi Highmiler.
Not sure how far this will help but here goes.
We got Cameron at AL to reserve a Kampa Pop-top 365 for our 2016 Troll when they were first announced. We had it for ages without trying it out partly because I was waiting to have my hips sorted out but also because I was dismayed by the many, many negative reviews on the Forum from people who were either having problems erecting it or were disappointed with how it looked.
However a couple of weeks ago with one new hip now in place we decided to try to attach it to the van on our driveway (having already successfully worked out how to get the weather strip attached). We were surprised how quickly and easily it went up and we were generally quite pleased with it and intend using it for real on a week's trip to Angelsey.
So points in relation to your questions:
Ours is the higher rail model and we had that down slope that some people don't like, but on your model this slope will be virtually non-existent. We are thinking of ways to make our slope less.
We experienced a tiny bit of the beading coming out of the end of the rail but have decided not to cut any beading off at this stage. We did buy the metal fixings to fix into the end of the rail that someone else suggested and will see how these work
We think we had the awning attached properly and whilst our door opened fine it would not go completely back flat into its stay - we don't see this as a problem. Our dinette window opened fine.
We may come back from North Wales with some different views but at the moment are quite pleased with the Kampa 365 and are relieved that it doesn't appear as problematic for us as some other people have found it.
Good luck in your choice MikeT
