He'll probably tell you himself when he reads this but Aaron Calder strongly advises against the ones in Carcassonne.
We stayed at a nice one two weeks ago about 30 minutes away to the east in Lezignan-Corbieres. ACSI 2473 Camping la Pinede. No problem parking in Carcassonne. A huge car park.

We visited Carcasonne last September whilst staying at Campsite Les Cerisiers du Jaur *** ACSI 2523. Site was fine.
When we went into Carcasoone we had a look in at the site in the city favoured by motor-home owners. Website looks good http://www.campingcitecarcassonne.com/?lang=en but from the entrance gate it is a large car park. We picked up a brochure and asked if we could have a look around as we liked the area. We were not allowed onto the site so you can guess what I did with the brochure. Steer clear.
I would be interested to hear what you think about the old city as to us we thought it was like a Disney set
Down the cost you will find ACSI 2410 Les Crigues de Porteils, on the headland between Argeles-sur-Mer and Collioure. I was advised this site last year but when we were away in Sept it can be windy.
I imagine you are aware it takes for ever to get anywhere in this area, but if in the area visit Narbonne. It is worth getting the museum pass as lots to see in a fairly small town. We enjoyed it more than Montpellier.

Yes, we stayed at the Cité site a few years ago and weren't impressed although it is superbly located for walking into the old town.
We were allocated (no choice) a small pitch by the stream with a wire mesh fence between us and a public footpath that was in constant use by joggers. They were friendly enough but bloody noisy first thing in the morning.
The fence had been vandalised and was badly held together with what looked like twisted wire plant ties. We had read somewhere of thefts from tents on the site and actually saw youths climbing into the site over the wire fence.
We only stayed a couple of nights and I recall Randa telling me afterwards that it's a better idea to stay close to rather than in a town or city as urban sites can be a bit rough and insecure.
Wise advice. Avoid.

For Carcassonne we used a site in Villegly which was about a 10 minute drive away or a longer but more scenic ride.

Readers of this posting and visiters to Carcasonne may be interested to know that the old city of Carcasonne was the first site in France in the late 19th/ early twentieth century to be restored. In fact the government department that did the work went completely over the top recreating an old city that was never like that originally, hence the slightly Disneyesque architecture that stands today. However there's nowhere else like it in France and it is an interesting visit.

Carcassonne also featured in 'Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.' After landing at 'Dover', Robin and his Moorish sidekick (carrying a sodding telescope) can be seen riding via Hadrian's Wall through vineyards towards 'Nottingham'.
Absolute bloody hokum!

We stayed at "A l'Ombre des Micocouliers" ACSI 2529 at Trebes just outside Carcassone. Bus stop into the city just outside the campsite or you could cycle in along the Canal du Midi if you were feeling energetic, we weren't.
For those who haven't been this year Carcassone looks like it has been vandalised, there are random areas of yellow paint on the city walls which look awful. It's only when viewed from one of the gates that you can see that they make a pattern of concentric circles, apparently a very expensive art installation, each to their own, for me they needn't have bothered.
