What's in a name?
Hi
I'm the proud owner of a 2006 Eriba Troll 540 GT - at least I think I am.
When I bough the Eriba it was described as a 540 GT. It has a long dinette at the back which converts to 2 singles or 1 large king size bed. At the front is a small 2 person dinette across the width of the van, perfect for morning coffee when you're too lazy to put the bed away.
When ordering some parts recently I was asked for the serial number from the plate near the door. As the van was in storage I waited until this weekend to have a proper look and found that the plate says Troll 550GT/E. I'm confused.
It's not one of the wider models and the layout is classic 540.The van is of Dutch origin (I think).
Is it a 540 or a 550?

Hi Kam and welcome to Eribafolk. What you're describing does sound like a 540. Just to make sure take a look here at the 550. g107-Eriba-Troll-GT.html
Apart from the front dinette layout the most noticable think about the 550 is that the wardrobe and Truma heater are in front of the side door.
Throughout the years in Cerney, where the Eriba was produced until 2010, there have been some problems with the serial numbers. For instance, my '99 Troll 530 is, according to Jandi, a 510 and Jandi did tell me that a lot of 550s were marked as 510s so it's quite probable that your 540 was marked up as a 550.
Those frenchies, I ask you, what are they like?

Thanks for the replies. I’ve always been pretty mystified by the Eriba numbering system but always thought the 550 and 540 were pretty distinct.
Does this mean that when I quote my serial number to Jandi I might get the wrong part?
And did someone just put the wrong sticker on my van in the factory? That’s pretty weird, isn’t it?

I think as long as you tell whoever your purchasing from that it is definately a 540 then you should be OK. Most parts are interchangable anyway unless your ordering something big like a table
