Hello to all. I’ve just taken charge of an Eriba Triton 430 2012 after moving from a fun year motor homing. I’m spending the next few days home making and deciding what I need and what I can leave behind. I’m going on my first trip to Incleboro in Norfolk on weds for a week to try it out. Just me and my cocker Spaniel. I’ve got a Movelite T 1awning which I can just about manage. Can’t wait to get on the road again but this time with the convenience of having my car too.
So my first question is ........ if it rains a bit should I take down the pop up roof?

Welcome LizzieB.

You will love your Triton and have loads of fun with it. Frantone is right you can leave your top up even if it rains really heavy, although it is a good idea to fasten the zips up in your vents if it rains really hard at an angle to the van.

There has been lots of debate on the Forum about putting the pop top down in freezing weather to keep the temperature inside the van up. I'm one who keeps the top up if I can. We've never done snow yet so can't advise on that but guess you would put it down so the weight does not damage the roof hinges.

Good luck in Norfolk MikeT

Hi and
We leave our pop top up. The only time we did lower it, was when we stayed on a campsite that was very near to a noisy road.

We once had one end lowered for us by overnight snow. One end seemi fly having a spring that supported better than the other. Weird getting up and walking towards the front of the van and gradually your head makes contact with the ceiling. In my sleep state it took me a while to figure out what had happened.

The only time we lowered ours was in the Great Pembrokeshire Hurricane and then it was to reduce the buffering from the wind, not because of the rain.

We have this debate regularly lol
I say up as much as possible, but down when cold or noisy as I'm a wimp and like to stay snug and warm.
we have a 430 too and love her.

Thanks everyone for your responses. Up it is then !
Almost ready to go tomorrow. Just need to pack food booze and ......... clothes. Reminding myself not to forget to push the step in and remember to take the dog, though he’s been sitting in it ready to go since I bought my Eriba home😄🐶

Welcome to Eriba ownership. I’ve owned my Troll for just over a month and absolutely love it. There’s loads of good advice on this site and no one seems to mind helping out and answering questions.

We sleep with the roof up and love that it’s cosy in bed but a bit cooler in the van. If I was somewhere particularly noisy or windy I might close it at night.
