If you travelled through Rouen last year you will remember the chaos caused by the closure of Pont Mathilde.
Well it is still closed and not scheduled to reopen until mid 2014.

Thank you and not sure if it's likely for us this year, but Carole towed round and through it on our last trip, I think by mistake so it was chaos anyway.

The info said 'mid 2014' whenever that is!

More info and possible detours at......http://about-france.com/index.htm
I think this is an excellent site for travellers to France.

When we negotiated Rouen last year we simply turned right along the riverside from the closed bridge and crossed at the next bridge along returning on the opposite bank.

Pas de problème.

We did the same.
There was a lot of traffic and it was slow but the real problem was the awful signage which was contradictory and poorly arranged.
I just thought it might be helpful to let people know about it!

We met some people who had completely bypassed Rouen which sounded like a much more sensible option and one to explore for next time.

I agree that the signage on the approach to the city was worse than useless - that's why we ended up in the centre.
