Last night I was Booze Monitor (note not Bar Steward) at a concert organised by Mrs SDA at St Mary's, the large, old church in the centre of Nantwich. Three of her choirs were joined together to share a programme with Cheshire Constabulary Band and Drum Corps. It was a brilliant night in oh so many ways.
The only trouble was that I got about 350 glasses for the interval drink and about 500 people turned up, with many tickets sold on the door. Not only were we short of glasses but I'd under estimated the amount of non-alcoholic drink that would be required, something that is unthinkable in Eriba circles, I know. So many were disappointed but having had much left over non-alcoholic at a previous 'do' I was determined not to repeat it.
One issue I didn't expect is that all the major supermarkets, except Waitrose have stopped offering free glass loan. So I've got to wash and return 14 cases of glasses to Waitrose, Sandbach by close of play today and the dishwasher only takes one box at a time.
The Yeti coped wonderfully with all its seats removed, carrying all the glasses plus 5 cases of a dozen bottles of wine. I would've used the Transit but there's a 2m height restriction near the church.
Now we're left with the empties to recycle and about a dozen red and a dozen white that weren't used. After not drinking a drop all last night it looks as if I'd better get used to these two, they'll be around a while.
