We set sail on the 7 30 Cairnryan ferry Friday 22nd June from our home in Co Antrim N.I. to look at two vans near Norwich an Eriba pan familia and a Triton 420. Both discovered on Ebay. We arrived some 10 to 11 hours later south Norwich. After some time inspecting, poking and prodding we bought the 1994 Triton on the basis we would not have to climb over each other to use the loo after some light refreshment (wine) the other year 2000 Eriba familia has sleeping across the van.
We stayed overnight ...boy were we tired out. Next morning high on life with our new purchase gleaming in the morning sun we set off at 6 20am and towed the "Hedgehog" newly christened all the way back to Cairnryan ferry terminal arriving at 3.15 pm. After ferry crossing we were glad to be home.. no drama with Eriba. To say pleased with ourselves is an understatement we took a long journey on good faith and were happy with condition described, fully serviced with new gas certificate and little sign of wear. Seems like the only thing past its best is the shock cord on the pop top, which seems easy rectified. Dawn and I looked at cheaper more modern vans which had space but not the character we were looking for, we are glad we took our chances on an older Eriba, lets hope thats how it remains. For the fence sitters....like we were, go look at some options.
Tomorrow is trial by fire awning learning day, there is one with the van in great condition...but it looks scary, so I will report our progress, if any. Pics soon. Les & Dawn. IMG_0096.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)IMG_0095.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)

And always leave the door open when lowering the roof as this prevents a bellows action in the canvas.

and enjoy
On the point of having to climb over your partner to get to the toilet.....Isn't climbiing over your partner part of the fun of having an Eriba

Welcome Les your Eriba looks great and you will have a great time with it.
Your journey to get it makes our six hour drive to Automotive Leisure in Poole to collect ours look like an afternoon outing.
On our first trip away in our Troll in York when we pulled up at the gate at York Caravan Park there was an identical Troll 540GT pulled up behind us - we thought we were seeing things or my wife had slipped something in my brew. It turned out that they had just collected it that day from Norwich, were staying overnight and then driving home to Aberdeen. Now that drive must have been closer to yours in length and time.
Still worth it for your reward. Happy Eribaing. MikeT

Hi Les and Dawn,
Congrats on your new Eriba and greetings from France this evening but back to Naas in Kildare this weekend and back to work next week !!
We are currently 'Eriba-ing' our way back from the fantastic Eribafest. Would love to glean some pointers regarding Sites up North, we intend pointing our Eriba that direction soon.
Very best regards and welcome,
Chris and Joan
