Awning Fixing

I have an awning that I’ve not yet fitted to my 2002 Troll van. The awning is fitted with 3 bolts (from memory 8mm) via clips to the roof rail. It doesn’t look to me if that’s a safe way of doing it, especially when bouncing along a road. I fear that the awning may distort the rail, which is critical as it forms part of the roof body panel seal. Thus the question is can safely I tow the van with the awning bolted by the three bolts on the roof rail?

I am guessing you mean a Fiamma or Omni. What you describe is the traditional way of fitting using a purpose made set of brackets. An example of this is here:- http://www.eriba-shop.co.uk/eriba-carava...a-troll-540-gt/
