Pity they made the front so ugly.

Also note that Tesla have ended the free charging on their super charger network in the UK. Some earlier purchasers will retain this. New purchasers can get a time limited free charging offer (think it's 9 months). They have also just racked up the costs. Initially they wanted to increase by 30% but trimmed this down to 10% of what they were making you pay before (whatever that was). This was apparently due to negative feedback from Tesla owners.

A lengthy conversation has recently started on our Eribafolk Facebook page so I've added the OP's comments on to this 2018 thread.

I suppose this question needs to be asked in the light of a recent Government decision, though for most of us it probably will not have a significant impact. Given the inclusion of hybrids in the (now) 2035 hydrocarbon-fuelled car sales ban. What on earth will pull our vans in the future? I've been in correspondence with 'Honest John' in the recent past and this was his advice for my Troll 540 "Nothing electric. No self-charging hybrid either". The towing weight can affect the regenerative braking, apparently.
He advised (for now) the Mitsubishi PHEV btw but that can't be sold after 2035 either. So will we be left with a rather expensive garden summer house?
I suppose the industry will develop suitable vehicles but given the longevity of the Eriba vans, it might affect resale values etc
As we have a close relative working as a manager in a multi national vehicle rental company and he often drives electrically propelled cars, I asked him the question and he replied that although they run a considerable fleet of Tesla cars, most of his quota are laid up in Swansea waiting for re-charge as the UK doesn't have the infrastructure to keep them on the road. Either that or people just can't spare the time to charge them up before returning them.

A Facebook member raised an interesting point which caused me to look up Tesla charging points in our neck of the woods. This is a map of Tesla charging stations in South Wales. Apparently Tesla cars have their own charging stations.

On a return journey from the Midlands or the Greater London Area there is little chance of getting a recharge before handing the car back.

Now that concept does look promising, I'd be interested to see how it develops.I wonder if Hymer are considering the idea for Eribas as they are the parent company of Dethleff?

My biggest worry is that initially we'll have the same problems as when unleaded petrol was introduced into the UK.
In 1987 we had a lead free car yet there was only one service station in the whole of the Swansea Bay area where we could obtain fuel. It left us with doubts about travelling too far in the car as it felt like entering into the unknown.
Admittedly, we now have phones and computers to check out where the recharging stations are but taking Tesla as an example, the map above shows a still limited cover in South Wales and those stations that are on the map are well off the motorways.
Maybe the larger city areas of England may get the infrastructure up in time but I doubt we'll get it up and running in the sticks.

I think by 2035 the car will automatically book a charging point in advance to fit in with your route and take you there.
