Does anyone have a Dometic 966 porta-loo? Any recomendation for this unit?
I have to replace our Thetford 365 units as they are looking tired and I spotted the Dometic on Amazon at £50 which is a good price.

I have to admit they are not for our Eriba, My old French house has no Loo, I wander down the village once a week to empty the pots at the campervan Aire facilities............!

Oh the joys of life in the country.

I don't think there is much to seperate any of the portable loos. We used Fiamma previously but only because of compact size and ease of fit in the van. They do a taller model which for more permanent use is best.
Have you tried Aldi/Lidl as I saw some in one of them when away in France this summer.

Hi Colin, every time I head for Aldi-Lidl's when I hear of good buys they are sold out!
I will buy the Dometic Loo and will give a full review :)

Hi Isley,
Yes I did think about a toilette seche years ago and I may revisit the idea....however....wandering down the Town aire on a Sunday morning is my routine now and I get to look at all the big campervans some of which look like they can host a family of 10.
I was planning on a full Sceptic tank system but there was all the regulations and pipework and flushing water and the costs which I would never get back so we decide to remain in the last century.........we even bucket water from the well!
We did have a small caravan (86 Abbey Hurricane) out back which we used as our shower/loo but that fell to pieces in the end and was taken to the dump bit by bit, some of it is still sitting in the hay loft.
Actually we are looking for a replacement for that as the "Big Kids with the Little Kids" are to visit so a "4B fixed bed big wobble box" will be bought this Autumn and taken over, I will have to see what the towing limit is on my 2.0 td Hyundia ix35.......

Beep Beep.

The Dometic 966 was deliver late yesterday via Amazon.
It was well boxed.
It looks and is a bit cheap compared to the Thetford 365.
Basically its 2 formed plastic cans that clip together.
However the unit is funtional and easy to handle and use and the valve mechanism is fine though the handle is a bit flimsy.
There are less parts to worry abot, no level indicator (who needs one?), no pressure release valve, the flush liquid is deliver by the same pump action and the seat and lid are are sturdy.
So my report is, fine for £50 but the Thetford lasted 18 years!.....will this? I doubt it.
Rgds Mike.
