Help and a creative solution?

Today I replaced the thetford pump on the flush tank, BUT when relocating the flush pipe with the little nozzle that slot through to the bowl, the damn thing dropped and the pipe with nozzle has dropped into the tank and I am not able to reach by hand. Any ingenious ways to get it out, wondered f I filled the rank if it would float up to my reach?

Pour in some water and tip it out by the emptying spout? But not down the loo!

Do you mean the flush tank or the toilet cassette tank?

Try making a fishing hook from a bit of twin and earth electrical cable. Make a small hook with the copper earth wire and just go fishing hoping to get a glimpse of a bit that you can then grab hold of.

Thanks Steve. Opened this link and read a few reviews and immediately ordered one.

Probably like many Forum members as I have got older I am losing my grip and dropping many more things. Hopefully this will help pick small things up.

Got a big grabber from the hospital when I had my first hip replaced last year and it was worth its weight in gold at picking up big things and was great with dropped clothes. I hope this will work for fiddlier smaller things - especially as I go under the saw again next Wednesday to have the other one done. I can now have a grabber for each hand! MikeT

Ouch, you make that sound very painful Mike Take care. Couldn't you ask the surgeon to make you a few inches shorter? That way you'll be nearer the ground if you drop something in the future.

Hurrah, at long last I eventually fished it out. After the excellent advice of Stevejoyce I ordered the claw thingy and I also went and got from Aldi the flexible inspection camera that I put down then could see what I was doing. I gave up while ahead and for my next step have to try and insert the directional nozzle into the toilet bowl.

Hi Randa

Strangely you have touched a delicate subject here. At the start I need to say that my surgeon and his team are brilliant and he has a great sense of fun, I have been in his care for 5 years.

After the first operation my new leg had become slightly longer, so I was taller on the new side than I had ever been. It was a bit like having a Cuban heal on one leg if you are old enough to remember them) We joked about what we would do on the second op and I had some comparative x-rays done, so we could decide what to do..

We decided together that it was better getting a good fit with the new hip rather than becoming fixated on the length. Last week when I came out of recovery they were delighted with how it had gone but would have to wait and see for a couple of months for the swelling to go down to check on the length. So I might be better at picking things up on one side rather than the other.. hence this new grabber, that arrived when I was in hospital, might be much used.

Apparently i had them falling about in the middle of surgery when I came to temporarily and suddenly shouted "What are you lot up to?" before the anaesthetist could re-sedate me! I think I must be a dream patient as I also managed to pull my canula out. MikeT
