Random items from Brittany

On my recent trip, there were one or two things that cropped up that I thought might be worth sharing with everyone.

First was I met a delightful French couple who had an Eriba of a style I had not seen before. The chap seemed quite into the Eriba world and thought his van was a rarity. He said it was from 1996 and he had acquired it from the local authorities where he lived (Cholet) after it had been impounded for non-payment of taxes by the previous owner. I think he said he had paid €6000 for it.. I don't think I have ever seen that shade of green before, but I am no expert...

Second was that the chap mentioned above gave me a flyer for an Eriba specialist near Rouen who he recommended. He did describe him as being not the most 'sociable' of people, being very 'matter of fact' in his dealings, but apparently he was able to supply my new friend with a replacement window for his van, albeit at some cost. I hadn't heard of the chap before but others may have. I thought it might be useful to share the details..

On the site where I met the chap there was also another Eriba, quite a presentable Puck. It was owned by a couple who kept Greyhounds of a type I had not come across before - conventional in every way but a sort of milk chocolate brown colour. I had never come across such bad tempered dogs in my life that growled and barked at you whenever you walked past the van. Odd that for a greyhound which I have always found very friendly dogs. Anyway, the reason I mention them is because of their unusual living arrangements, the couple slept in the tent and the Puck was a mobile kennel for the 3 dogs...

Finally, I came across this beauty in a car park at Binic. I absolutely want one...

cheers...

That Hymer motorhome clearly has Caravan origins.

I did wonder what it might do to the gallon. It must be like driving a brick...

Hi Hugh.

The Green Stripe came out in 1995 to 1996 along with the purple stripe but was shorter lived. The purple stripe remained until around 2000 and was joined by the yellow stripe from around 1997 until 2002.

There are quite a few green stripes around but not as popular as the others because of its shorter life span. Here's a pic of Tony (ed4hills) green stripe Puck which he took as far as the very north of Norway. He has since sold it.

Regarding the lead to the French Eriba specialists, I'll copy the information and add it to the appropriate section below.

I didn't realise our green stripe Aimee was such a rarity, but then we all feel our Eribas are one in a million anyway...I must read up on how to attach a photo...lack of time and unforeseen circumstances have limited my time online recently.
