Kitchen glass screen protector thing

Hi,

After hours on the M1, we decided to get off early and drove the last 15 miles through the beautiful Peak District.
The winding roads certainly tested the Eriba. Poor thing getting thrown everywhere.

When we arrived, we noticed the glass screen to the side of the hob had come loose in its 3 little holders. Not the glass lid on the hob itself, but the pale glass protecting the hob from the seat next it. On further inspection, we can see the screws have been previously tightened and spoiled the screw head.

Not sure what to do at this stage. It’s still in place.

Anyone experienced this? Any tips on fixing it and anything I can do to reduce the chance of it coming loose and perhaps even off in the future?

Maybe try 3 little blobs of silicon or similar?

You may find the screws in these fit. There are a number of these types are fittings for glass (usually hinges). These are pretty cheap so worth a try (assuming you don't get caned on postage).

You could try heating a screwdriver with the right sort of head, pressing it gently into the screw head and wait for it to cool which should give you enough purchase to tighten it, but sounds like replacing them would be best. Needless to say, take care not to crack the glass.

On a similar theme to Frantone. Silicon is an excellent gap filling and flexible bonding agent. Masking tape off the areas around the metal brackets and the glass. Pump the voids with clear silicon, smooth with wetted finger, leave 5 minutes, remove masking tape and re-smooth with wetted finger.

Dont forget to use clean water rather than licking your finger. Also olive oil is very good for getting silicon off your hands.

Yeah, but not licking your finger means you miss the buzz of those chemicals.

Cheers for the advice. Something for my winter to-do list.
