Pets travel abroad

Anyone out there worried about taking their pet(s) abroad after Brexit? No one seems to know what’s going to happen to the PPS (pet passport scheme) and if you’re like me who loves having a holiday with your pet, the future looks very uncertain. By the way, Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all.

Our Vet advised us last week to get Tilly's blood tested for the Rabies antibody 3 months before we plan to leave. But they admitted that they did not have any idea and were waiting for guidance from DEFRA. i.e. Gove.

After today's goings on in parliament, who knows.

suggests you may need to plan at least 4 months before travel. But what about bringing your pet home if you do manage to get to the EU?

The issue is getting Tilly into Schengen, the only issue coming back is DEFRA's daft worming tablet rule.

A bigger issue for us is the 3 month time limit on third country nationals in Schengen, if there is no agreement otherwise post Brexit. Our loss of freedom of movement will hit an awful lot of people, particularly the young.

Anyone know how much a rabies titre test would cost? I guess the only sure way of covering all bases and so having the freedom to travel whenever/wherever we want next year, is to get the rabies titre test done now, but I bet its expensive.

Blueyonder, I believe you will have to pay between £90 and £110 depending on what your vet charges
