Welcome to the forum Maroonb,

To me, the most important items when towing any caravan, big or small, are these.

Check and adjust the tyre pressures. On caravans the tyres form part of the suspension and therefore important for safe road holding.

Secondly, the overall balance of the van can drastically affect the handling. Any heavy items stowed in the van should be kept low down and around the axle area if at all possible. Don't shove it all in the back, a heavy awning for example, the inertia will make the van sway like a pendulum. The correct balance should result in the optimum weight of the towing hitch on the car's towbar. For my Triton I aim for about 65kg but your outfit could well be different, depends on the towing vehicle as well the caravan.

Try posting more details of your outfit in the towing section of the forum and somebody with a similar outfit is sure to help.
