If you have not had caravan insurance before then it could be a lot. Think car insurance premiums. It is obviously dependant on age/value and if you want UK or European cover. Contents cover will also paly a role so check your household policy to see what it covers when away from home on holiday.
Names to consider for a quote are Lifesure, Caravan and Motorhome Club [have a stiff drink ready], SAGA etc. Others will add names to consider.
I've had insurance since early 2000's. My 2017 triton is insured for £25.5K, new for old, European cover etc and costs me £270 a year with Lifesure. Caravan and Motorhome Club wanted about £400.

Try Alan Blunden Insurance Brokers who trade under the name of Cover4Caravans.
www.alanblunden.co.uk.
I have found them to be very competitive; under £200 for a 2012 Troll with awning etc.

As others have said, it depends on the age of the van. Insurers lose the value of older vans and we have to explain to them that they don't depreciate after they reach a certain age, way above a normal caravan.
We normally agree on a "nominated value". Another good one for the list is Towergate, especially if you are an AA member as discounts will be applied.
Older vans can usually be insured for between £125-£150 if used only in this country and between £150-£200 if used in Europe. This includes awnings etc

I've moved away from a motorhome and taking on a caravan as a first timer. I'm soon to take delivery of new Troll 540GT and am starting to look at insurance for European touring. Starting to realise it gets more complex when you consider breakdown cover as well. New car is insured with LV and covered for European breakdown by manufacturer, so need to figure out how to cover Troll. Any tips and hints on pitfalls or other peoples experience would be welcome.

If new car is insured with LV, I'd be inclined to give them a try as well as anyone else that may be interesting. Often your own company will be prepared to quote even if they don't advertise caravan/trailer insurance

Hello Eriba Friends,
We are brand new to caravanning and just about to pick up our 2019 530 Troll (Rockabilly). We were quoted £350 (UK and Europe) which we assume is a combination of being new to the game (0 years NCD) and it being a new van. It will be stored very securely when not travelling. Does this seem reasonable before we check out other insurers?

Time to renew having been with Alan Blunden for years, so decided to test the market. Saga are significantly cheaper for the same cover. Anyone used Saga for a claim?
The Clubs were more than Alan Blunden. Tried LV, who wouldn't quote because they couldn't find the address of the CASSOA Storage site on a Business Park where Elsie is stored.

Yes I have used Saga before (for campervan insurance) and they were really good.
I have just moved back to them from Towergate who thought it would be amusing to increase my premium by 17% when I have made no claims in the previous 2 years. Saga quoted me a better price with better cover & a lower excess.
I will now check the market every year at renewal time as it would seem that there is a lot of really unfair play out there in insurance land!
