Wallboard Replacement

I've stripped out the interior of our 2001 LMT (540gt), first to lift the flooring to repair some of the external and main framework (weld). In the past the roof has leaked and swollen the wallboard.....actually hardboard with what I suspect is a vinyl facing, with a very thin backing of polystyrene.
Has anyone replaced the wallboard with 3mm vinyl faced plywood ??? Yes it's along job, but if I don't do it now, I'm never likely to have the opportunity again !!! I'm getting too darned old!!!
I still have to remove the upper cabinets.........but figure it's about time for a cup of coffee !!! I'm also fed up with the rain and high winds rocking the Eriba here in West Cornwall.

I am real interested on how you are going to carry out this task. I purchased some board late last year, and due to wife's insistance I have to have it done before I go to the summer meet. Have you thought or purchased any joining strips, I have not been sucessful so far in finding anything that I feel would do the job. I am ony going to replace just inside the entrance door, as I have a leak some where. Thanks eckcan

HI Eckan
Have a look at the following website https://shop.morlanduk.com/ They have an extensive range of boards and joining strips, and will send 3 samples of their various boards, from either 2440 x 1220, or 3000x 1220 sheets. (you need to choose from their site). Cost is probably about £200 to £250 (including delivery of £85), not cheap, but compared with Eriba originals, a fraction of the price.
What I have yet to find out is whether the 3mm ply will bend round the internal corners as easily as the original hardboard. Hence the reason for my posting my query. I would still add 1mm polystyrene (available on EBay) to the inner face, to cushion the wallboard against the metal framework.
I can use the original panels as basic patterns (the originals are a little bit longer than the replacements), but will remove the windows as I go......that's how I figure the factory would have made the exact cutouts. It also gives me a chance to reseal them.
I have allowed myself several months to do the complete job. Being disabled, that's physically, not mentally.....although having figured out what I have started, I'm not so sure about the latter !!!!!
Interestingly every single screw and staple that I have removed is severely rusted.........whilst not absolutely ideal, I intend to replace them all with stainless steel fixings. Yes you might get an electrolytic reaction, but I reckon the risk is worth it.
Hope this helps.

Hi eckcan again, If My Euro lottery comes up tomorrow night I might indulge in spending That amount of money, otherwise I will scavenge around and see what I can come up with. I knew the strips were called H strips but they appear to come with a much thicker board width than I want. Nothing easy when you are tackling a simple job.eckcan😎

Win the lottery....I wish......you may need to, as my estimate is about £50 less than it should have been. Total about £310.00 including carriage.
I really don't have any option, as the previous leaks were pretty bad, and have left the wallboard stained and very uneven.
I have now removed all the curtains (surprisingly not as grubby as I thought they would be). I'm not sure whether I will re-install them, as we always use the blinds. Ok it brightens up the surroundings, but still a lot of hassle.
