I'm beginning to worry about presenting our van at the Gloucester meet to you Eriba cleaning aficionados after 3 long months of touring France and Spain. When we were discussing "waist rails" this afternoon while sitting outside the van in 24 degrees of heat and several beers and a G n' T inside us, our waist rail looked......OK ....but then we were dazzled by our highly polished roof.....

Agger has spoken to the GLOUCESTER cleaning club and ALL roads are to be blocked and vans inspected for cleanliness BEFORE being allowed to proceed

Oh Ek better get it sorted then. I've heard that there's a good caravan valeting service near the camp site called " Gleaming Graham's Great Gloucester Grooming Service". Will have to look them up

Once again I started the pre-France cleanup this morning and can report that the super-whizzo Aerospace Protectant did NOT prevent the top Herzim strip on the waist rail from going yellow and sticky over the summer. It was as bad as ever. It also doesn't seem to have fared too well on the roof which now needs another (expensive) coat so I'll probably just wax it with Collinite when I do the body.
As I was using some Fenwick's Black Streak Remover I thought I'd give that a try on the plastic and initially thought it worked but alas, no. It was still nasty after careful application, leaving for a few minutes and then rubbing vigorously.
So it was back to the non-Frantone approved methylated spirit which removed the muck without a great deal of effort. After that the rain started and the planned waxing of the bodywork had to be abandoned.
I shall continue to seek a solution to the sticky waist rail rubber problem but have to confess that I'm not optimistic.

after the aero on the roof tried the 3m stuff and it was easy to apply and did keep roof in good condition for 6 months but does have contents id rather stay away from
just moved onto the farcela compound and uv polish not easy to apply (unless have a polisher) but did give results in end. come to the conclusion the aero stuff seems to only work on new grp
finished off with maguairs gold wax, eriba now a gleaming example of hard work
thought the waist rail seal reacts with polish so tend to keep away..
