HiI haven’t purchased a caravan, I’ve not been camping but
got a taste for the outdoors over the last few years due to paragliding. .. which I have now stopped.
I will be semi- retired next week, having 3- day weekends.
My wife and I love the outdoors and are exploring caravan options
having seen two caravans- the Eriba Rockabilly which we love the
look of or the Barefoot.
Having no experience whatsoever, it would be great to
get some advice
Thanks in advance
Barrie

Welcome, the Barefoot does look good, a bit quirky, well built and nice specification. As an Eriba owner I'm obviously biased. What would deter me from ownership is the lack of a permanent bed area and the awning arrangement is limited. The Troll offers more space and that welcome permanent bed option. Eriba's do not however have a "proper" bathroom which may be a drawback for you.

Best of luck with your search.

Thanks Colin
Sorry to ask what maybe obvious
to caravaners but why is the permanent bed
a better option?
I’ve noticed a shower tray in the Eribas I’ve
seen on line...
Are they not usable for a proper shower?
If not, do you have to get to a camp site facility
or do you work around this a different way?
Thanks

Jumping in here over Colin's comments. Fixed (permanent) beds are a matter of opinion. It's easier than making up a bed every night but it does reduce the amount of seating area in a van. We don't like faffing around making a bed every day so leave our rear lounge area made up as a bed and use the front dinette for sitting and meals. We then have the option and have gone away with the grandkids and really appreciated the lounge area in the daytime.
It really depends on how you are going to use your van. For two people only a fixed bed is quite a nice idea, loads of storage under the bed. If there's going to be more of you maybe not the best option.
The Rockabilly and Ocean Drive are both very attractive updated looks on the Troll.
As for showering in an Eriba, only if you are on the short side, for everyone else too much of a contortion.
Have fun making your choice and hope you enjoy whatever van you end up with.

Julie is right about the fixed bed but clearly it’s a very personal choice. We have had both over the years but would not have a fixed again. The long benches in some models (420, 540) are very versatile allowing sociable seating and dining and either large singles or a massive double bed. They also provide the option for individual daytime lounging or lazy morning lay ins on either or both sides. There is loads of storage space under either side.

Thank you both. Thankfully I’m only 5’7” so that’s a bonus :)
Is that the only reason not to use the shower?
It’s great fun so far.. haven’t even seen one in the flesh yet!

Thanks for the insight
Do you know if you can you buy a Rockabilly without a fixed bed?

I don't think the bathrooms are "waterproof"....at least ours isn't. You'd get the wood soaking wet and they are REALLY small! I read somewhere that the best thing to do is put the shower head out of the window lol

The shower room would be good but only if you left your game of twister at home!
