Short story, power to fridge terminals 10 & 11 on new towcar electrics not present. After "discussion" with garage the problem is now supposedly resolved. According to them it now works. It is NOT possible to simply put a meter on the towbar electrics terminals as modern car canbus electrics are something of a pain.
My thoughts are if I can identify location of 12v contacts on back of fridge I could hook up car, run engine and then test power is getting to these. So where are the contacts please [JohnE]

The low voltage connections from towcar to fridge are invariably made via a 4-way connector which should be found behind the fridge external lower vent.

You should be able to probe the back of the connector without disconnecting the plug/socket. - the 2 thicker wires will be vehicle 0V and ignition-on +12V (referred to as D+)

There's usually a fair amount of voltage drop from the vehicle to the fridge when the fridge is set to 12V, so you may only see about 10 to 12 Volts even though the car's alternator is pumping out 14V.

A clamp meter, like this one, which measures dc & ac current would be a useful addition to your toolbox, Colin. With this you can clamp the meter around a wire and measure the current draw which can be more meaningful than a volts test alone.

Thanks John.
The only wires behind fridge that are accessible are those for the1.5v ignition.
Next thought was how about I go direct to the unit in the wardrobe. 10 & 11 are clearly visible. I cannot work out which is the fuse for this circuit though incase I short things out.
The meter you show I think I might have access to.

Yes, I forgot about the connections on the CSV409

The fridge connections are the top two shown in your photo, labeled KS - Kühlschrank.

There isn't a fuse for the fridge element in the caravan, but there will be one in your towcar.

You'll probably find that the fridge supply from your VAG towcar, like mine, isn't a true D+ supply, ie, it may be on before the engine is running.

To overcome this I fitted a voltage-sensing relay betweeen the CSV409's KS connectors and the fridge supply wires. This now ensures the fridge is only supplied when the alternator is running.

Happy days. Just took a reading at the booster/transformer unit. Wired up to car, engine running, 14.8v showing. Flick the switch on the fridge to 12v supply and drops to 12.6v. My beers will stay cold.

I van feel it in my water that today is a good day, unlike yesterday when I realised the extent of the badly done K-Rend on the house. Kampa awning arrived yesterday and I've just tried it for fit, looks good. Fridge works, I'm just making a nice veg curry for tonight to go with the carrot and spinach dhal, the sun is shining and I'm off to bowls for the afternoon.
