Omnistor 6300 awning

Hi All, I have been on the blower to John at Rose awnings in Poole and am seriously thinking of having a Omnistor 6300 fitted to our new 60th Anniversary Troll. Apparently the 6300 is the new kid on the block, following on from the 6200. Does anyone here have any experience or views on either. To me it looks like a good quality product and simple to set up. I like the fact its fixed to the roof and not something that has to be stowed in addition to the rest of our stuff inside the troll. I also like the "tent" or sides and front (G3 res room) that can be added. Thanks.

We had the 6200, very easy to use and set up, the down side is you lose about 27k of payload, but if you would have carried an awning in the van that doesn't apply

We have a new 540 on order for June delivery and when ordered last year we also ordered a 6200 + G3 Residence Room from J Rose. (the new 540 etc is to replace our current 2013 540 + 4900 awning & G2 Residence Room). Had no idea that a 6300 had been introduced until reading this thread - so thanks! Have just spoken with Dan Rose to change our order.

Had 6300 fitted by rose awnings today, 6300 is lighter than the 6200.
We have a 540 troll, currently John (Rose awnings) has fitted 3.25 Omnister which at the back cuts down through the back window.(if fitting privacy room)
Following discussions we had a 3.5mtr Omnister cut down to 3.4mtrs , a privacy room or rain blocker fitted does now not restrict window opening.
It's a two day job to bond & fit, the result is superb and does not restrict standard full awning fitting.

Keith a couple of pics, unfortunately the van is in the garage.
So Omnistor 3.5mtr cut down to 3.4mtr to finish before roof curves and avoiding the window.
PM if you want I'll call.....

That looks great. A real solution to getting the right size.

Thanks for the pictures - looks to be an ideal solution... But (quite often 'buts' intrude into life!), we have a G3 Residence Room on order with J Rose as well as the 6300. Sitting here in Spain (as one does), in our current 3.5m G2 Residence Room it is difficult to envisage where 10cm could be lopped-off the width of the front panel (without major compromise to functionality anyway).

When the Residence Room is fitted, we rarely open that particular window (even in Spain) and whilst having the side-panel running down over part of the window is not ideal, I think we can live with it. We will soon find out - our new 540 is scheduled to go down the production line next week and we do the change-over at A.L. in the third week of June. :)

Had I not read this thread I would have been unaware that the 6200 we had ordered was being superseded by the 6300, so am grateful for the information.

So no functionality compromised , no different from cutting a window blind for your bathroom.
The residence room is also trimmed to fit by john Rose.

I can see that with regard to the 6300 but am not quite with you if you are referring to cutting down the front panel of a 3.5m G3 Residence Room.

Have you actually bought a 3.5m G3 Residence Room with the front panel modified to suit your 3.4m 6300? (We have ordered the 3.25m version to match the 3.25m 6300, with the usual changes by J Rose to the sides to suit the Troll 540).

Yes so 3.5 awning & room cut down to 3.4. they obviously need to match.

It was not clear that you had actually had bought/had modified the G3 in addition to the 3.4m modified 6300, hence my question. Looking at the front panel of our 3.5m G2, the only place where 10cm could reasonably be removed is the strip between the window and door-zip. Is this where yours has been modified?

Our friends also with a 540 had the full room mod, we are just using a G2 rain blocker either side (no front)
Our main concern was rubbing on the window, but also did not want the Omnistor to extend past past the end of the van and look odd.
Hence John suggested 3.5 cut down which was the same price as 3.25.

Had 6300 fitted to 540GT and just got rain blockers. Easy to fit and a good outdoor space in the rain. Had LED fitted and well worth it. image.jpeg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)image_2.jpeg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)
