Inclement weather

We were looking forward to our 3rd trip in our 530Gt today but the weather is atrocious. What is the advice on keeping the roof up in driving rain? Does the canvas get soaked or is it completely waterproof? We don't like to be controlled by the weather but as we are new to Eribas any advice would be welcome.

We have been in some pretty awful storms over the past 6 years we have had an Eriba. No problems with water ingress with pop-top up. Only once have we dropped the pop-top down owing to high winds.

My comments for what they are worth

I had the pop-top up last week during a heavy night of rain in Normandy. The only issue I had was that I left a kitchen roll on top of my wardrobe which was touching the canvas. This allowed some wicking of water onto the kitchen roll. I guess they are like old tents, if you touch them when wet it might allow the water through.

We had our previous Eriba for over nine years. The canvas has been up in atrocious weather on several occasions and been well soaked without any ingress or supplementary waterproofing. I would have no concern.

Well, I'd say it depends. We were in the morbihan last weekend during freakish wind and rain. The lid stayed down. 1, for noise and 2, for warmth. We had to have the heater on so didn't want all the lovely warmth going up into the sky. People were losing their awnings, even with storm straps.

Have to agree with Islay a bit here, whilst our canvas hasn't leaked sometimes it's just cosier with the lid down, so long as you remember it's down if you get up in the night.

We have only popped the roof down overnight once to date as a "summer storm" passed over the South West . Generally no problem with the roof up in 'normal' rain / winds. Right now I cannot get over the summer we are (not) having. Where is it ? This time last year we were baked in fantastic weather and here we are exactly one week to "mid summer" and its like March here in Ireland. I cannot previously recall having the heating switched on every evening in June . We had a beautiful Easter week-end here, temperatures in the early 20's and we thought GREAT.. Here comes the summer.. but off it went and that was the last we saw of it. So I a writing this in hopeful anticipation that I will be basking in glorious sunshine in a few days... maybe buy a lotto ticket too..

Yes, I'm brushing my (acrylic) fur coat and packing my woolly hat, snow boots and thermals in preparation for the 'Summer bash'. Will there be hot cocoa with that cream tea, please?

Ah, the 'flaming' Easter. Whilst the UK basked in very unseasonal sun and heat, we were on the Med coast in Spain in our 540 with G2 Residence Room fully deployed, complete with heater blasting away. Easter week was 'blessed' with highs of 15deg, continuous strong N & NE winds, heavy rain and nary a sight of the Spanish sun!
