Just received an update from Gov.UK regarding International driving Permits. A notable change is for driving in Spain. No IDP needed in first nine months after leaving the EU and then none required for visits of less than six months. :)

It is worth checking the Gov.uk site as there are more than one country in Europe that will not require an IDP after Brexit (Austria for example) and there are 3 types of IDP and you will require the correct one for the countries you plan to drive in.
Checks should be made by visiting:

I also understand from elsewhere that there are extensive implications for dog owners travelling to EU after Brexit.

The .Gov website says - 'you must register commercial trailers over 750kg and all trailers over 3,500kg before you can drive through some European Countries'
So a couple of questions:
Are caravans included under the term 'commercial'? Probably a ridiculous question I admit.
Also where is the recorded weight they are looking for? I'm looking at the blue plate on the side of ours and it says 690kg (unladen I think?) and 850kg (laden I think?) Theres also the black Data plate on the axle tube - is that what I should be looking at maybe? Difficult to translate that, as theres all kinds of figures on there!

QUOTE Williebraveheart: 'I also understand from elsewhere that there are extensive implications for dog owners travelling to EU after Brexit'.

Yes thats correct. We have already been through the process as regards that in the following order.
Rabies vaccination (as usual),
then wait 30 days,
then get rabies titre blood test taking up to 3 months for results(not usual!),
then Health Cert showing rabies titre test pass (hopefully) - 10 day or less before travel.

The whole process can require 4 months prep before your trip. Pet passport also required - that may change to a UK version only later.
