Table in Touring 420GT

Hi

I'm hoping someone can help as we're slightly baffled.

Our new Triton 420GT has an independent table with two fold down legs.

By that I mean it doesn't latch into a bracket at one end as our previous one did in the 430GT.

What it has got though are three prongs underneath, two at one end and one nearer a side.
We can't figure out what they are for and the manual has no info.
We have though a strap hanging down behind the nearside seat cushions which would seem to have a fastening on the end which may catch onto one of the under table prongs.
Plus why fit the bracket on the exterior wall over the wheel arch which the table won't go into.

Very best regards

Tom

Hi Tom

The 420GT has a 'none standard' table, why? It is to do with the rear cupboard arrangement which when installed uses the table rail to attach the cupboard. The transit arrangements for that table is face side down on the door side seats and the hanging down straps are meant to secure it in transit.

I used to have a 420 and it is a most frustrating arrangement. The external table bracket is a standard feature but totally obsolete in the 420, unless of course you purchase or make a suitable table that can use it.

Probably not the answer you wanted!

Just to add to Clippie’s post, the three “prongs” are for press studs - two at the fridge end of the starboard bed and one under the window. Be careful how you release them. The stud collars are pulled upwards before the studs are released. If you don’t do that you will pull the studs away from their tapes (the voice of experience) Having said that we found the table too heavy for weekend trips and it now lives in the shed. We use a small lightweight Isabella table which is much easier to move around.

Our 420 table lives in the summerhouse and does duty on the patio, brilliant for that, useless in an Eriba. Buy or make a smaller table, it's the only way to go.

We removed the legs from the Original table. We then fitted an adjustable centrally fixed leg at one end. The other end has an extrusion which slips into the exterior and interior extrusions. To avoid modifying the table edge we used a small extension in plywood which was screwed to the underside. The table then becomes very light as all the weight was in the legs. It can still be clipped for transit, and also when not in use on site it can be stored inside the caravan in an uprght position next to the door.

Hi everyone and thanks for the replies.

Must admit we stored the table on firm foam blocks under the n/s seat.
As stated it's a bit of a maul to drag it up and assemble in the relatively confined space.
We had a similar table in our Bailey Pegasus and I think we only used it a handful of times in the 6 years we had it.
From this you can gather we don't like a table between the seats all the time.
We're thinking of just getting a lightweight camping table and as others have done removing the Eriba table to the house.
Again many thanks

Tom
