Just moved to Devon from France and considering fitting michelin cross climate tyres on when mine need replacing, any thoughts on their use, road noise and towing would be helpfull and give me something else to think about in the rain

We used them on our last car [Citroen C4 1.6 Hdi ] and found them very good.

One think to check if you plan to travel abroad. I think some countries require that the spare tyre is the same make as those on the wheels. It may be a rule which is not always observed but worth checking.

When I was researching the purchase of a new car 3 years ago I was looking to continue with a small 4 wheel drive option. 3 out of the 4 makers that I was interested in would only supply the 4x4 option with ridiculously large diameter low profile summer tyres. There was no option for m&s tyres, 2 of the dealers said I would actually invalidate the warranty if I fitted smaller diameter but high profile (thus the same rolling radius) m&s tyres.

The only sensible manufacturer that fitted M&S tyres to their 4x4 straight out of the factory was for the Dacia Duster, the very cheapest car.

Sadly ther Dacia was just a bit too basic and I ended up with 4x2 front wheel drive Seat Ateca with the smallest diameter wheels that I could specify. Those wheels will be shod with M&S tyres just as soon as I can justify enough wear on the factory fit summer tyres.

Edit m&s tyres are for mud and snow, not full winter tyres.

Hi, Just picked up on this post.
It may be of interest as i used to work for Michelin and have Cross Climate tyres fitted to my car.
They are excellent tyres, probably the best tyres i've had on our cars.
Absolutely no complaints at all.

Tom

We have Cross Climate tyres on our Tiguan. No difference noted when towing but they are very quiet.

We've used the Cross Climates for nearly 2 years now.
So ok we haven't used them in much snow or ice yet but when we have and especially in the wet weather they haven't let us down.
Towing wise I haven't really noticed much difference either, but having a car that tends to spin its front wheels with weight at the back that's no bad thing.

Best regards

Tom.

So I have now ordered my Cross Climate Tyres through a company called Black Circle, they will be fitted by ATS on Monday. If I had ordered them direct from ATS they would cost me £36 each more?? and yet they fit tyres for Black Circle ?

I ordered from "Black Circle" and got this coupon code that gave me another 10% discount, so how does all this work, I can't believe that there are such good savings to be made

Another irony is that both ATS and Black Circle are owned by Michelin.
