Just looking at caravan windows, seals, catch locks etc, following all this talk about windows.

Just spotted this comment on the Polyplastics Netherlands site.

"Do not use any agents containing silicones for maintaining the rubber."

They suggest maintaining them with chalk dust.

Hmmm. I thought silicon spray was good for various rubber seals. Does anyone have any thoughts on this.

Chalk dust or talc is a dry lubricant. Silicon is a wet lubricant. Wet lubricants attract dirt and grit and can form an abrasive medium.
Locksmiths will save NEVER spray oil, silicon or WD40 into a lock to lubricate it. They advise foliac, a graphite powder.
