Unfortunately travelling to find the right one is par for the course. If the one you like is at Dom Fox' then I'd go for it. He's normally a reliable bloke and you don't know if and when the next one will come up.

420s are normally "keepers".

The 4 1/2 to 5 hr drive is not a short distance, but you could consider the option of an overnight stay in Cromer area to dry run the van, giving you the chance to ask any questions in person the next day.
When living in Essex the four vans I bought were based in Berkshire, Belgium, Leicester and Nottingham. All trips were not exactly local.

Thanks all... we are getting a 2014 Triton 420 from AL in about 10 days and then going off to Brighton for our first trip. Exciting times!
