Hi everyone, I currently drive a 1972 VW Late Bay campervan, but am looking to move across to an Eriba (with loo), as my advancing years have produced more frequent nocturnal visits of an annoyingly necessary nature! We (i.e. my beloved) and I know nothing about these beautiful vans, but I have started to view and am very grateful for any and all comments and advice. All the best, Philski.

Welcome Phil, sounds like you have come to the correct place. Lots of mature people here seeking compact "camping" with a bit of luxury. I'm one of the younger members at 58 and relate to the loo situation.
On a serious note, you will find some layouts to look at here, so you'll get a idea of where to start your search g15-POPULAR-ERIBA-TOURING-LAYOUTS.html
It is also worth looking here for more information Eriba Caravan Brochures
The vans have obviously changed cosmetically over the 60 years they have been made, but layouts have altered little.
Weights of later vans are heavier and from 2010 they got a little bit taller.
Prices are high, silly compared to "normal" caravans, but they are worth it.
My advice would be look through those floor plans and brochures to identify a short list of models, decide a budget then start asking lots of questions. You will find lots of advice and offers of help. Let people know where you are located and you should also get some invites to view vans.
Best of luck - Colin

We found our Triton 430 5 years ago.....she's 21, has a loo and is wonderful. Good luck finding yours.

Hi Phil and welcome to Eribafolk There are lots of cheeky monkeys on here but Mr Motters gives good advice.
The "entry" size for Eriba tourings with a loo is the 320. A lovely van and it was our first choice many years ago but we couldn't find one for love nor money. We ended up with a Troll 530 (2 sizes bigger) and have had it ever since.
One major decision is whether you can sleep across the van or down the length of the van. Cross van sleepers are normally quite comfortable for people up to around 6' tall but it is a double bed which means the person sleeping on the inside has to climb over the other person to get out of bed. The 320 is only a cross van sleeper, as in fact are its big sisters the 430 and 530.
The smallest long bed sleeper with a loo is the 420 which is another popular van.
Many folk do however go for smaller vans and carry a porta potti which apparently serves them well. After all the "washroom" in any Eriba Touring is not that big and there are not many that elect to try and shower in it.

Hi Randa France and thank you for the welcome and advice. I will start my search for one with a long bed, as my wife is getting a little tired of my feet in her nose as I negotiate the rock地池oll in the V-dub! We are also now considering the feasibility of a Puck 230GT or Familia with long beds and a porta-potti (mainly because I have never towed anything before and perhaps it will be safer for other road-users if I start at the shallow end of caravanning . It is great to have found you all and I知 already feeling welcome - thank you. Phil

Thanks Eriba Motters, this is great advice and your description of the vans over the past 60 years is applicable to me too! I知 trawling through the plans and will be putting the V-dub up for sale this evening. Believe it or not, I haven稚 actually looked over an Eriba, but the style is just up my street and as I知 married to a German, I know the build quality is stunning . We live in Ely, just north of Cambridge and I知 just a few hairs short of 6ft, so a long bed, with or without onboard washroom is the key requirement. So far, I致e spoken with AL, but am waiting for Dom Fox to return from his winter hols on the 14th, then will pop up to see his selection. I知 really grateful for your advice and will be posting more newbie questions over the next few weeks I知 sure, so apologies in advance if they are particularly naive. All the best, Phil
