The Thetford Bog - what does this bit do?

I'm puzzled by this apparently redundant plastic collar around the flush tank level and drainage pipe.

As I assume mine not to be correctly fixed, can anyone tell me what it does or how it locates please?

does it support tube weight and stops rubbing while on road, the tube is for letting air in while draining plus acts as view level when filling

That's interesting, Rod. In the advert they refer to a 'clamp collar' which must be the part I'm asking about.

The next questions are, what does it clamp and where/how does it fit?

Any takers? A piccy of yours correctly fitted would help.

I looked at mine and its different, the lip on the inside of yours suggests it should be at the other end of your pipe deep inside the workings securing that end in place.

Hob was spot-on with his diagnosis and the problem is now fixed.

The collar is there to stop the pipe from coming out of your flushing tank and dumping its contents into your toilet locker.
