I’m interested in a Puck as it’s the smallest & I have never towed before. First challenge is deciding what to do about a tow car as I currently own an Audi A1.....

Welcome Manda. Your A1 should be fine for towing a Puck. Look here and you might be surprised at the results. https://towcar.info/GB/outfitmatch.php
Most owners go the diesel route but modern petrol engines are a revelation as I found out last year when I sold a diesel Skoda Yeti and colllected my new car. I tow a 1200kg Triton with an A3 1.5 petrol and love it. Easily enough power to sit in cruise control at 60 and a decent size boot.

Woah that would be amazing if I could tow with my existing car: I’ve had it from new and it’s in near mint condition but I know I would lose money on it if I traded it in. I will check out the link thanks and my next post is likely to be on the main forum asking about retro fitting a tow bar (now kicking myself for not spec’ing it when I bought it 😤).

Hi Manda - assuming you do decide to keep the A1 then I would suggest that you get a towbar fitted at any local independent rather than at Audi. It will be the same thing but will save you a fortune! Its just a case of having a bloke bolt it on and add in some electrics which takes around an hour or two and should cost a few hundred pounds in my experience.

Manda,
I agree on towbar fitting. Do not go main dealer route. PF Jones have a good reputation for supply and home fit. My uncle just had a detachable swan neck, with dedicated 13 pin electrics fitted by them on an E Class Mercedes for about £640. This may sound a lot but you can easily pay double.
