Cover or not?
Normally we would be uncovering the Eriba and getting ready for going away. Obviously that’s not happening so do we leave it under the cover where it’s nice and clean or do we uncover and let the van enjoy the sunshine?

Julie, l think that you will find that in the summer it will become to hot in the van if it is left covered . This is certainly my opinion. Once the weather starts heating up I will uncover it so that I can open the doors roof and windows. I feel that the heat inside a covered van all summer would do more harm than good , with all the glues and fittings . Come the autumn l will give a good wash and polish and put it away for the winter again .

Thanks Tom, I hadn’t considered heat build up, makes sense so cover off. I may decide to hook up to the electric, load the van and camp on the drive as an antidote to self isolation. I could use the garden as a campsite, may use the facilities indoors but other than that abandon the house for a few days.
Good idea or have I gone mad after only 10 days into isolation?

I am going to uncover the van, give it a spring clean and take a nice cup of coffee inside. I'm going sit down, shut my eyes and dream myself into all the great places we visited last year!
May I virtually join you both? Eribaing on the drive or in the garden with a coffee and a book may just keep me sane and safe.
We've only one bathroom and one key worker who has to go to work until he drops the Eriba may become our isolation room for 14 days

just thinking same thing, we bought our new to us Eriba Troll in October and had to put the winter cover on because the roof was getting full of sooty marks from nearby houses burning wet wood on their log burners, having cancelled next weeks trip to Lakes i to have been pondering when to remove the cover and start polishing our new baby. might wait a week or two yet to let the fires go out.

I've also been pondering when to remove the cover as it doesn't look like any roads will be travelled this year. Better spin the wheels as it could be standing in one place for 12 months.
With no Eriba'ing in the offing I suppose I could attack the washroom door and replace the hinges- the door comes loose after every 20 miles and the weight of the door on loose hinges has bent them.

At present ours is sitting in the garage off it's axle stands, cover less and ready to go (nowhere) after it's service late Feb.
Assuming we are allowed away in July, I roll it back and forth a few times, sterilise the pipelines and pull the cover back on to keep the workshop dust off it.

The recent windy weather has worn a hole where the chimney rubs on the Troll cover, in spite of unscrewing the chimney top and inserting a tennis ball and packing around with some bubble wrap. If it warms up slightly I shall uncover (the caravan) and stick a patch both sides. We bought our cover from AL in 2014 and it was never a great fit, but you pays your money......
Thought I was coming down with the plague on Thursday but just a cold which seems to have gone now, going out to see my last appointment in Devon on Tuesday before I shut down and intern myself, Moira is still very busy in the surgery.
Cancelled our crossings for the French trip and thank goodness I went for the Flexi payment so got a full refund.
I have been watching some old cine, which my daughter put onto DVD of our family camping with a trailer tent in the 60's in France , and Italy. Lots of big hats , people quaffing out of coloured plastic beakers and waving at the camera.Always people waving!!!
The Uk sites have announced closure until the end of June, so perhaps we can all look forward to maybe getting away to some sunshine in July or later,
here's hoping!
One thing, I am quite enjoying some unusual food that I have had to buy as an alternative to what was on the list and unavailable. Had some strange tinned fish
the other day for lunch.
Keep well everybody,

I've had another idea. Don't put the cover on and when it gets a bit warmer wheel the van onto the drive at weekends, hose it down and have a staycation.
