Thought it worth posting a crude but effective fix for a broken retainer clip on an original rear Hella combination tail light. This is the light below on our 91 Pan Familia. The model no. is 2SE 003 409 201 I think. They are very hard to get!

Heres the offending clip which broke at the base (post fix):

Basically glueing it back on did not work, because as soon as it was depressed it broke again. So to get around this, I cut a piece of galvanised tin (from an old cooker back panel in my case!), formed it to create an angled spring, then screwed it to the light mounting at the clip location. A 10mm self tapping screw was used btw. This was then glued to the back of the broken plastic clip and clamped (with tiny clamps!) for an hour to effectively create a spring loaded plastic clip strengthener. see pics below.

After hardening, it required a little more bending to make sure the clip worked again. Thankfully it did. Anyway forgot to mention the glue in question. After a bit of research, I decided on a 2 part epoxy high strength resin by Gorilla. It can easily bond metal to plastic so was the obvious choice in the end. heres the glue.

I dont believe it will react with the plastic in any bad way. Hope this helps somebody out there with the same problem.
