Combined smoke/co alarm

Good morning
Our current carbon monoxide detector has just expired and I am think about buying a combined smoke/carbon monoxide detector. I believe the the smoke side of things should be the optical type? Has anyone any experience or knowledge of these devices? Any recommendations?

The other thing I’m thinking about is whether to fix permanently (where did you fix yours?) or just put it on the top of the wardrobe when on site....

Advice appreciated
Bob

One thing to consider is that a smoke alarm and CO alarm are usually fixed in different places. Smoke, high up on the ceiling, CO lower down nearer to your head when asleep.
Our smoke alarm is fixed to the roof panel, and the CO to the wall about 1/2 way down.
