However, not a situation I have been in, but don't you have to use a Hymer approved workshop to maintain your guarantee for the first few years? Others will correct me if I'm wrong about that...

Cabbie is correct. You must have the van and all important Hymer water ingress check done by an official Eriba/Hymer workshop if you are to retain the warranties. Expect to pay £350/400. Ouch.

Cameron at AL informed me that I only needed the water ingress check done by a dealer to maintain warranty. For mechanical servicing he recommended using an accredited engineer from MCEA, saying they would be less expensive that AL's workshop. I think AL were struggling to catch up on the lockdown backlog at the time

Hymer told me that the general service can be done by any reputable bona fide service centre or engineer BUT the water ingress (damp check) must be done by a Hymer agent. Doing it this way may save you some money.

I agree with everything said about the water ingress test. If you are prepared to use another dealer for the general service, then I am happy to recommend Kool Classics. They are Eriba specialists and based in East Sussex very near Hailsham.
