Eriba Loo - what do I dooo ?

Can anyone one advise please regarding the loo in our 530. I have just filled the pink flush tank and put 2 litres in the poo pit with a splash of the green liquid. Not used it yet and we are off for a 3 day camp out next weekend. Can I now tow with both tanks ready to use ? Or should I empty and then refill when on site. Thanks.

Personally I wouldn't travel with water in the toilet. The level sensor in the poo tank can be dislodged if it is shook about too much with water sloshing about.

It's also extra weight that you are lugging around unnecessarily. Fill the tanks on arrival at your site.

Hi Robbie

I wouldn't tow with any water in the toilet or the tank. Last year water was left in our tank after a service and when we got on the M6 we had a real sway that I had never felt before. It was a bit frightening. I pulled up as soon as I could, and emptied the water out. It was totally fine after that.

On mine you can simply press the flush button and empty it into the toilet. Then empty the whole toilet cassette.

You don't say how old your van is. On older ones like ours you drain the flush tank via the glass level tube.

Unscrew the yellow filler cap to allow air in; remove the small yellow drain plug under the filler; pull the level indicator tube from its clip and let the contents drain via the hole in the rubber bung into a bucket. You can speed it up a bit by removing the rubber bung completely.

Thanks Aaron. Ours is a 2019 model. I will have a look to see if it has the plug. Thank you.

Now in my 17th year of Eriba ownership I have tried something new. I have always ran with about 25mm showing in the flush tube an the poo tank empty. This year when I leave a site and am travelling on to another I have emptied and cleaned the tank then primed it with 2L of water and 75ml of chemical. I have had no problems.
I do however still fully empty my 35L onboard tank, but leave the system primed, ie the pipes are full as is the water heater.

Ours is a 2016 and doesn't look like Aaron's. We don't seem to have a valve to drain the flush - but perhaps I haven't looked carefully enough

We have the drain tube on ours and it’s 2008.

Thank you all. I will have a look in the morning to see if I have the handy drain tube system. I do like the sound of Colin’s “primed and ready for action” idea. Will implement and report back. Thanks again.

We travel with water in the poo tank as i use it while travelling.......well you know what I mean. We don't use the flusher as it provides such a pathetic trickle. I use bottles of lovely pink water.

Thanks Betty, that’s a good idea. It’s like having your own luxury porta loo in tow.

We do have a flush pipe after all on our 2016 Troll it just looks so different to Aaron's

Will be using it this morning as we have developed some mould growth in our top tank (strangely after using Thetford's own pink stuff) that appears with the first few flushes after a refill. I put some Milton in it late yesterday, after reading a previous post, and will flush it out in a bit.

I will take some photos of it to illustrate the difference with Aaron's type.
