Hi,

New member and grateful for any help.

Grateful for any help. I'm looking for a Troll 540 or 530 GT as we are a family of 5 (and a dog). It's the 2 dinette layout and will have to use an awning for the extra space. Preferably something between 3 - 14 years old. Live in Cambridge.

Hi Andy and welcome to Eribafolk

A good choice of van but the 530 will give you extra bed space as long as you're not too tall. It might be a consideration and will obviously give you more options?

Hi Randa,

Thanks for the advice. We haven't had a caravan before so not exactly sure what is best model for us. My wife likes a fixed bed but I prefer versatility of 2 dinettes especially as there's 5 (2 adults, 3 children, 14, 11 and 8 years) of us so will have 2 tables to sit at and not be under each other's feet. Isn't the 530 a fixed double bed?

Hi Andy. No, most 530s have 2 dinettes, each will seat 4 as long as you're not broad of beam so the kids would sit neatly at the front while you have a large spacious table at the rear.
The only problem with the 530 is that it's a cross van sleeper so if you are taller than 6 foot then you might feel a little uncomfortable. Also the big double bed at the rear means that you will have to climb over your partner to get up. It does give you a wide single berth in the front however.
